随着设计从机械制造时代、信息电子时代向互联网时代转变，设计所介入的纬度日益丰富，所涉及的过程也更加拓展，无疑已突破传统设计的本身。设计已悄然成为用户体验改善、战略制定或更复杂系统中的重要组成部分，同时更多的设计主动与技术、工程、商业相融合，成为商业创新或社会转型的代名词。

今天的设计教育正在基于不同复杂度的问题进行重构，以设计为驱动的创新思维正在越来越多地介入商业乃至可持续社会转型的广泛问题。设计教育尝试以反思性实践者的角色，使用设计工具与流程来重新构思整个生活方式和未来发展的产品、设施、环境、健康或食品系统等，以支持积极的社会和环境变化。为转型而设计，不仅意味着设计知识、能力与范式的应有新的发展，而且也希望引发思考，重新审视设计的初心并非仅是商业产品的成功，而是肩负以设计驱动来推动社会可持续发展的责任，创造我们每一个人身边的新世界。

在此基础上，江南大学设计学院将于2016年10月-11月举办“为转型而设计”国际学术月系列活动，包括国际设计系列论坛、DESIS国际研讨会、系列国际工作坊、创新创业分享大会、“交互设计与技术”教学研究论坛等，联合国内外知名设计院校与品牌企业共同研讨，分享最新的设计研究成果及创新案例。我们会陆续推出具体活动内容的介绍，敬请期待！

Along with the change of design from the era of mechanical manufacturing to electronic information age and then to the age of the Internet, the scope of design has been widely expanded and enriched, which has undoubtedly crossed the boundaries of traditional design itself. Design, has gradually become an important part of the improved user experience, strategy formulation, or a more complex system, which, at the same time, takes the initiative in integrating with technology, engineering, and business, ultimately becoming a synonym for business innovation and/or social transformation.

Design education today is restructuring upon different complex problems, and design driven innovative thinking is increasingly getting involved into the wide range of discussions of business as well as sustainable social transformation. Design education is playing a role of a reflective practitioner, to help training students to uses design tools and process to restructure future lifestyle, product, facilities, environment, health or even food systems, in order to support the active changes in society and environment. Design for Transition, not only means the development of design knowledge, capability and dynamism, but also calls for the attention to reconsider the intention of design, from the success  of a product, to shouldering the responsibility design driven social sustainable development.

On this basis, School of Design at Jiangnan University will be hosting, together with well-known design institutions and companies, a series of academic activities from October to November 2016, including the International Design Forums, DESIS Symposium, a series of international workshops, innovation and entrepreneurship Seminar, etc., to discuss and share the latest researches and innovative design cases.

2016中国设计文化遗产研究学术研讨会

2016 China Design Culture Heritage Research Academic Forum

设计文化遗产是具有设计历史、艺术与科学价值的纪念物，是宝贵的社会资源和精神财富,见证了设计历史变迁。剖析其对当代设计所产生的作用、价值及意义，探求其特征意象、设计价值和文化传播是当代设计史论研究的重要命题。

在当代强烈的设计民主化浪潮之下，设计文化遗产的再创造赋予了新的文化内涵。如何传承、创新设计文化遗产，丰富设计的文化精神与实践，找寻设计发展的正确路径与方法，重新认识中国设计，建立中国设计自信，形成国际文化传播已经成为时代的要求。

近年来关于设计遗产的研究已经成为学者关注的热点，特别是在全国诸多高校学者的共同努力下，《中国设计全集》、《中国当代设计全集》的出版及《中国少数民族设计全集》（拟）即将出版，值此设计文化遗产研究发展的重要时刻，诚邀国内外相关研究的专家、学者及参与编撰的部分主编齐聚江南大学设计学院，就设计文化遗产的相关问题展开深入的交流与研讨。

会议主要议题有：设计文化遗产的相关概念与特色、设计文化遗产的未来、设计文化遗产的研究方法与路径、中外设计文化遗产比较研究及设计文化遗产在构建中国特色的设计学学科体系中的作用等。研讨会期间将同时举办中国设计文化遗产研究展与学术论文写作工作坊。

Design culture heritage is the remembrance that has great historical, artistic and scientific value; and it is the precious social and spiritual fortune that has witnessed the transformations of the design history. Therefore, it is of great significance for design history studies to explore its impact, value and meanings to contemporary design, and to investigate on its characteristics, design value and cultural promotion.

Under the strong contemporary design wave of democratization, the re-creation of design heritage has been given a new culture intention. It has become the demand of the times in exploring how to inherit and innovate design culture heritage, how to enrich design culture sprit and practice, and how to work with a better pathway and methods for the development of design. It is a time to reconsider Chinese design, to rebuild design confidence, and to set up the platform for international cultural promotions.

In recent years, design heritage research has become a research focus for scholars in the field, especially, with the efforts of many scholars and universities, the collective works of China Design Works, Contemporary Design Works of China have been published, and China Minority Group Design Works is also going to be published. At this special moment, Jiangnan University is dedicated in inviting researchers, experts and editors to discuss and exchange in the field of design culture heritage research.

Key themes include: design cultural heritage concepts and characteristics, future research in design cultural heritage, research methods and path of design heritage, and impact on comparative study in design cultural heritage in the construction of Chinese design characteristic design discipline.

DESIGN FOR TRANSITION INTERNATIONAL DESIGN FORUM (I):Design Research: the Transformation of Technology and Meanings

近10年来，设计学科一方面由于设计、技术、工程与商业的新融合呈现突破传统设计的新面貌，另一方面也在广泛的商业与社会转型问题中，结合设计思维与科技机遇，发现更多设计可以介入的机会。但是，缺乏设计研究的能力与专业精神正在成为制约创新推进的关键缺陷之一。对设计研究的不同维度、方法及实施专业性的重新认识，无疑对设计学科理论的发展与商业产品、服务与模式创新的成功具有重要的推动作用。

设计驱动的研究，不仅仅是理解用户当下的需求与问题，还要考虑这些需求、变化趋势与技术和意义革新的关联，更是要在转型时代与工匠精神倡导下推动创新企业与设计院校之间的协同与融合。论坛将于2016年11月11日-12日期间在江南大学举办，包括国际设计论坛、创新创业分享大会、“交互设计与技术”教学研究论坛及国际工作坊，联合国内外知名设计院校与品牌企业共同研讨，分享最新的设计研究成果及创新案例。

In the recent decades, design discipline has changed from the traditional design to a new era with the merging of design, technology, engineering and business. In the meantime, design has obtained more opportunities with the integration of design thinking and technological upgrades in the mass transformation in the social and business sectors. However, the lack of design research capability and professional spirits has become a major obstacle in the reinforcement of design innovation. Therefore, a diversified recognition of the perspectives, methodology, and implementation of design research is crucial to the development of design discipline, as well as the success in the innovation of business, product and service mode.

Design driven research, is not only the understanding of the current needs and request of users, but also with consideration to the interrelations of the needs, transition, and the transformation of technology and meanings. It is rather an emphasis and efforts to enhance the collaboration and integration of companies and design schools in the era of transformation and the spirits of craftsmanship. The Forum will be held at Jiangnan University from Nov.11^th to Nov. 12^th, 2016, including international design forum, innovation and entrepreneurship discussions, and interaction design and technology education research symposium, to discuss with well-known design school and companies and to share the novel design research achievements and innovation cases.

工作坊简介：

本次工作坊将介绍推动“设计创新”的重要原则，并对设计思维过程以及各种工具，方法和框架进行广泛探究。工作坊将以维贾伊·库马尔（Vijay Kumar）教授多年来研究发展，并出版的《企业创新101设计法》这一论著中的设计创新过程模型来构建工作坊的理论框架，这种模型有七种模式：确立目标、了解环境、了解人群、构建洞察、探索概念、构建方案、实现产品，并将具体讨论这七种模式及其相关的思维方式和方法。同时，工作坊将重点讨论设计创新和创新领导者如何在组织中能够有效地使用这种学习研究，培训，项目和战略应用。

In this workshop we will present an overview of some of the key principles that drive “Design Innovation” followed by a broad look at the design thinking process and various tools, methods, and frameworks. As an organizing structure for the workshop, we will use the design innovation process model that Professor Vijay Kumar has developed over many years and published in the book, “101 Design Methods: A Structured Approach for Driving Innovation in Your Organization” (see diagram below). This model has seven modes: sense intent, know context, know users, frame insights, explore concepts, frame solutions, and realize offerings. We will discuss these seven modes and their associated mindsets and methods. We will also discuss how design innovators and innovation leaders in organizations can effectively use this learning for research, training, projects, and strategic applications.

“在行动” 江南大学第七届DESIS国际研讨会

Jiangnan University DESIS Symposium 2016: In Action

作为一个新兴的现象和话题，社会创新在设计领域已受到广泛认可和讨论。社会创新设计是专业设计为了激活、维持和引导社会朝着可持续发展方向迈进所能实施的一切活动。（Ezio Manzini，2015年）。问题在于在人人设计（大众设计）的时代，这个任务是如何由设计师和设计机构（专家设计）来完成。本次研讨会“在行动”旨在探讨研究人员、从业人员和所有参与者之间的问题，特别侧重探讨如何设计院校为作为专家设计机构来实现这一任务。

为展开讨论，我们初步假设“在行动”有三类形式：学术活动，实际行动和社会企业。第一类是正常的教学，或以社会创新主题的项目和研究；第二类实践行动是指对外的社会和实践活动，由高校机构直接推动或参与，并带有一定的研究意图；第三类是指促发社会创新的机构化，成立独立于设计机构之外的社会企业。三种形式代表了参与者和参与对象之间不同的结构形式，以及不同程度的社会创新设计。

在DESIS网络和DESIS中国区域集群的框架下，研讨会是分享经验，案例和反思社会创新设计的平台。如何体现在正常的课程或研究计划中融入新的课题或问题？如何作为一个高等教育设计机构支持和促进社会创新实践？如何培养社会企业，并完成一个社会创新的设计项目？什么是专家设计的特定价值，在这些过程中设计师和设计研究人员的角色？社会创新当前的知识积累与设计挑战之间有哪些差距？所有这些问题（但不限于）将在研讨会上进行探讨。

As an emerging phenomenon and topic, social innovation has been widely recognized and discussed in the field of design. Design for social innovation is everything that expert design can do to activate, sustain, and orient process of social change towards sustainability (Manzini,2015). The question is how that can be done by designers and design institutions (experts design) when everybody designs (diffuse design). This symposium “In Action” aims to investigate the question between researchers, practitioners and all participants. It would particularly focus on how design school as as expert agency to make it happen.

To open discussion, we assume roughly three formats of “in action”: academic activities, practical actions and social enterprises. The first are normal teaching and researching activities fed with social innovation subjects or projects; the second means external social and practical program to do or participate social innovation with academic intentions; the third refers to trigger organizational process of social innovation to be independent from design agency.  The three formats indicate different structures between actors and objects, and different degree of design in social innovation.

In the framework of DESIS network and DESIS China regional cluster, symposium is a platform to share experiences, cases and reflections in design for social innovation. how to embody new subjects or concerns in normal curriculum course or research program? How to support and promote social innovation in practice as higher education design agency? How to incubate a social enterprise and complete a design project for social innovation? what are particular values of expert design, roles of designers and design researchers in those process? What are gaps of knowhow between current academic and professional expertise and designing challenges in social innovation? all those questions (but not limited) would be explored in symposium.
